Dr. Bill Cody studied chemical engineering at The Cooper Union and then mathematics at the State University of New York, receiving a Ph.D. in 1979. He has held positions with IBM in management, development and research. His product experience has included developing software for statistical and retail applications, for high-level language and communications layer support for distributed applications, for device control of manufacturing terminals and for query processing in relational database systems.
With IBM Research, Cody has worked primarily on query language compilation and on database technology for applications involving medical image data, spatial data, multimedia and scientific data. Currently, he is senior manager of Knowledge Management. He has published papers on database applications and technology, software engineering and group theory.
