HDB Sovereign Information Integration

Intelligent Information Systems : Hippocratic Database Technology

Sovereign Information Integration (SII) is the functional component of the Hippocratic Database (HDB) suite that addresses the issue of secure information exchange. SII allows two entities to share data without compromising the privacy or security of either data set. SII computes query results across autonomous data sources without revealing anything except the results of the computation. The core principle behind the technology is that two commutative encryption functions can be independently applied to unique identifiable data in different orders at different locations; the resulting double-encrypted values can be compared without violating disclosure rules.

SII is a unique, innovative information sharing technology: it does not require a trusted third party; it is a lightweight, scalable, middle-tier solution; it integrates transparently and seamlessly into existing security solutions; and it has a Web services query interface that enables easy integration into any application on any platform.
